Women in Music in the Spanish Speaking World
Music is one of my passions and I wanted to incorporate the presence of women in music from the Spanish speaking world. Many women are represented in these cultural milieux as well as different types of music: salsa, ranchera, flamenco, tejano, classical, opera, rock, rap, etc...This project is designed for my 8th graders and incorporates three parts: a written biography, a podcast, and a creative poster in the Fillmore style. My goals are to showcase these projects in the Arts Festival 2023 as well as to be shared with parents/guardians/adults during the Student Led Conferences. I am fortunate in having the great support of my administrators and colleagues, like Vanessa Miller, and her technological expertise at my disposal.

This sounds exciting! I hope you were able to find some tech to support your effort and look forward to seeing what the students create and how they are able to learn and feature women in music in Spanish speaking world. I love the idea of including this as part of the SLCs.
