Reflecting on Mindfulness

It was nice to take time to process how mindfulness impacts our work with students on a day-to-day basis. The one aspect I kept coming back to was how we might not be getting to the "why" we do it with students so they can start to see it as a tool in their own lives. They see how it as a tool to refocus before a class but not as a way to connect with themselves when they experience an emotional imbalance.

It would be wonderful to see students ask for a mindful moment from teachers one day to promote how it can help regulate and shift how they feel in their bodies throughout a school day.

So true that there seems to be a disconnect for many students of how mindfulness is something they themselves can tap into when needed as a way to regulate and shift their own mindset. It would certainly be evidence that the work we do is effective if students start asking for a mindful moment as needed in classes.
