We worked together to get more familiar with the first unit of the phonics program. We are trying to extract the key ideas from each session to see where there is redundancy with programs we have already used and eliminate some of the wordiness and fluff of each session. There is also a lot of song repetition and routine in each session and so we are starting a document that will help simplify our action items during each session and weave them intentionally throughout our first weeks at school. There were some solid ideas in the first unit and it was good to actually delve into what a full session could entail.
