I helped our technology team prepare digital resources for the start of the 2023-24 school year. August is a busy time, and lots of support is needed to thoughtfully prepare for our new/returning students, staff and teachers. On Monday 8/14, I used the MyBurkes platform to enter new rosters for all Upper and Lower School classes and advisory group. This was a detail-oriented task, where familiarity with students and class structure can come in hand. Rosters also were generated for every Lower School specialist as well Upper School electives and advisory groups. I was able to identify mistakes, correctly assign students and even learn where all of are new students will be placed in the fall.
On Wednesday 8/16, I continued to support the rostering activity, entering math class and homeroom assignments. Once this was complete, I helped to label and configure iPads in class sets for 3rd and 4th grade. Before returning them to their protective cases, iPads needed to be cleaned, checked for new student assigments, and labeled with an asset tag. Each keyboard was also checked to make sure there was a reliable connection from the case. I gained a better appreciation for the sheer number of devices and how tedious it can be to ensure every student has a high-quality experience with technology at the beginning of the school year.
Thank you for all of your help with this, Jimmy! I can imagine what a huge task this is and what a tremendous help you must have been.
