I really enjoyed the IFSEL summer institute at Charlotte Day School in June 2024. For me as a teacher, I've never been an advisor so I felt that the training was really helpful in preparing to become an 8th Grade Advisor at Burke's this year. Probably most memorable for me was the Open Session, which I had never attended. The facilitator did a great job allowing the group to work through the cards and it was a touching and helpful session for me. I also really liked how the facilitators/instructors really PRACTICED the curriculum with us participants instead of just "instructing" us. Throughout the sessions I also wrote down many ideas and ways to use the learning in my various classes. I left the workshop really feeling ready for a new year and ready to take on being an 8th grade advisor. Thanks, Burke's!
