Throughout this past school year, I was part of a PD that was run through CATDC to bring educators together to discuss climate-related problem-solving at our schools as well as to dig deep into the topic by having shared resources. I learned so much about climate change through the amazing documents shared throughout our 7 month time together as well as what other educators were accomplishing at their schools. One of my favorite moments was the book club that happened between sessions where I had a chance to read Nutmeg's Curse which enlightened me about how colonialism initiated large surges of climate change.
This work will prepare me to be part of next year's curriculum council which will be focusing on sustainability as relates to the strategic plan. I cannot wait to get this work started next year because hearing all the amazing projects these educators were doing around CA truly amped me up for all we could do at Burke's!
