For the second year in a row, I was able to attend the ICGS conference. The best part of this conference for me is being surrounded by passionate educators who are committed to girls' education. It's so inspiring and energizing. Some highlights of the conference for me were:
A 3-hour pre-conference workshop with Julia Poole on "BurnIn Mindset" which was about ways to avoid burn out and thrive in our professions. She was a great presenter and the time was filled with interesting information about negativity bias, classifications of strengths, how to stay focused and productive, how to rest and recover, and more about resilience and charisma (the "riz"-!).
Keynote speaker Marin Alsop was also amazing!
These are the titles of the workshops I participated in. I am happy to speak with anyone about any of them.
Moving on up: Creating a Middle School to support tweens during a turbulent time (Bromley High- 920 girls spread over a geographic area)
Assessing the Impact of Aspects of School Life on Well-Being in Girls' Schools (Denise Labieniec, Institutional Researcher, The Winsor School; Nina Kimar, Authentic Connections)
Assessment of Learning: A Small Shift to Positively Impacting Student Success (director of Innovation/Strategic Initiatives/Consultant)
Using Evaluations to Impact Growth, Retention and Student Outcomes (Buffalo Seminary)
Mission in Practice: Designing Frameworks to Guide and Inspire (Dr. Rachel Herlein, Assistant Head of School for Academic Excellence; Megan Weiskopf, Director of Teaching and Learning- Laurel School)
10 Years of Humanities Curriculum; Developing Global Leaders; St Paul's School, Baltimore
This is a great conference and I really encourage any faculty to attend. The presenters are primarily teachers and administrators doing great work in girls' schools.
