We began with a Padlet where people submitted amazing ideas. I got really inspired by an idea that someone learned from attending the CSLA conference last year–hold an election for picture book characters. I wish I had known about this idea sooner because it’s very cool and obviously this would be the time to implement it! A few people also shared ideas about making podcasts (this would be with 4th grade) and they do really detailed lessons where students can add music and sound effects, etc. They did the podcasts about book reviews. I would love to work on this next year maybe with 4th grade and makery. I went to a fun and engaging session on how to create papercrafts with a light-up circuit to make cards for people or for other uses. We used copper tape for the conductor. The presenter is a high school librarian who I think also teaches STEM lessons, and for the students’ free period she leaves out materials for certain projects on different tables so the students can independently create and experiment.
