Attending the UbD Retreat (link to PD slides)with Caroline Carr and Amanda Malone was a great opportunity to connect with the team around curriculum, specifically working on a unit they do to kick off the year around identity and belonging. We spent 2 days doing a deep dive into the components of UbD and applying this learning along the way to a 3rd grade unit. I attended this PD not only learn more about UbD, but my primary goal was to support any teachers that wanted to focus on a unit and I hope to have the opportunity to work with others in supporting their unit design using the UbD model. I enjoyed the retreat and the 3rd grade lead teachers are very motivated and driven to provide deep learning experiences for the students through thoughtful, intentional, and well-designed units.
