1st grade Sustainable Sea Creatures Project Brainstorm
This Idea Lab was an opportunity for Art, Library, Makery, Science and the 1st grade team to reimagine our sea creatures unit from a lense of sustainability. Our goal for next year is to plan and execute a multidisciplinary and collaborative experience, whereby groups of 1st grade students research sea creatures that are endangered due to trash in the ocean. After researching their sea animals and the impacts of pollution, students will sculpt a replica of their animal using recycled materials, including trash collected during a beach cleanup. The finished sculptures and accompanying research presentations will be shared with the community at large during the Arts Festival on May 9th. This project will be informed by the work that the specialists, who are members of the curriculum council, will be engaged in with the Cloud Institute for Sustainability Education.

I am truly excited about our work as a curriculum council next year and to see where you take this great project idea! Your brainstorming doc shows a lot of though has already gone in to the content and timing of this at such an early stage of development!
