Sixth Grade Advisory 1/2 Day Idea Lab

Charlee Underwood and I used a half day on 8/16 to put our heads together to review and innovate the sixth grade SEL advisory plans for the 23-24 school year as the new co-lead advisors. Since Charlee was onboarded as a new sixth grade advisor and new co-lead, we used part of the session to help Charlee get a foundation of sixth grade advising. We then reviewed and updated some key points for the school year. In particular, we created a "Rule of Thirds" table to ensure we were following the guidance of IFSEL to balance advisory activities between SEL, routines/procedures, and unstructured time.

Idea Lab Session Goals

Review the existing sixth grade advisory plan and establish our roles/responsibilities as co-leads. Evaluate any changes that can be made. Use time to review the activities and plan our Fall Retreat at Cal Academy of Sciences
