VISIBLE MENDING IDENTITY ART PROJECT
In collaboration with Markery, Science, and Sweing, we planned an identity/sustainability project whereby 4th-grade students transform a personally meaningful garment into a wearable art piece to be showcased at the arts festival.
In art class, students will learn about the art and history of fabric mending and be inspired by a guest speaker working with various mending techniques including the Japanese art of Sashiko Mending. Students will practice various mending techniques, and design and execute a final wearable art piece incorporating what they learned.
