I had the privilege to attend IFSEL's summer institute in Chicago to learn more about SEL and continue developing techniques and practices in my toolbox.
I found the summer session to be highly engaging, practical, and directly applicable to my work as an advisor and classroom teacher. I learned a significant amount about the importance of SEL and how to best integrate it into my daily practice - including sessions on the importance of nature, how to set up check-in, and conflict resolution. Many of the sessions were very collaborative and I feel I learned just as much from other experienced educators as the instructors. The training on running an Open Session was especially valuable and informative. I feel confident that I will be able to incorporate much of what I learned into my advisory work this fall. Loved hearing about this SEL training, Hudson. Sounds like a big W!
