Education Technology Specialist
June 25-29th, 2022 at the ISTE Conference
Summary of workshop/opportunity:
This session places emphasis on building leadership for the benefit of the team and the school organization as a whole and speaks to the heart of the ISTE Educational Leaders standards. When members of students and professional teams have integrated leadership opportunities, buy-in, and success skyrockets. This allows organizations to craft cohesive visions of technology that all belief in. I joined 3 technology directors who all work on the same team and now all individually support separate schools/districts.
Goals & Collaborations:
What were your big takeaways from your workshop or project?
In this session, I gained an understanding of the leadership opportunities that can be implemented in our communities and the importance of such. Additionally, this was a networking opportunity to connect those who value leadership within educational technology.
How does what you learned to connect to your goals this year?
The technology directors discussing challenges, success, and resources in their former and current roles gave me confidence in the ideas, plans, and future of our community integration to tech. In addition to the impact, a tech team can have on the students.
How might this opportunity lead to the collaboration with other faculty?
Will be looking to pather with youth voice and both Makery teachers to bring some technical aspects to students in several different forms, for example, digital citizenship.
Would you recommend this opportunity? Why or why not?
Yes, because now having the networking to speak to individuals that have been in my position and who carried the same projects I look forward to accomplishing.
