Associate Teacher
October 15th 2024
This workshop aimed to give a comprehensive overview of Responsive Classroom practices, going over both the why and how. During the workshop we went over the guiding principles and four domains of Responsive Classroom all while experiencing RP practices like effective modeling, interactive learning structures, brain breaks and energizers from a student perspective.
This workshop gave me a huge insight into why Burke’s as a larger community does what it does as well as why there are certain class routines that my lead teachers utilize every day. Some of my biggest takeaways were:
Interactive learning structures do not have to be chaotic and are essential to learning
Interactive modeling is silent! This was a huge mind blowing revelation for me but makes sense!
How to make morning messages engaging, relevant and purposeful. I have been in charge of morning messages for 3B and it has been helpful to keep this framework in mind.
I would highly recommend this experience. I think all AT’s should do at least the one day crash course to understand the routines that they do in their classrooms on a deeper level.
