It was helpful to get a refresher on Mindfulness practices. I see that it is useful for lower-school students to solve social conflicts or express their frustrations.
I wonder if Mindfulness is helpful to students in grades 4-8. It seems like there is a rise in stress and anxiety level especially as the workload increases. (homework, grades, high school process). Even after a few years of Mindfulness/SEL/Toolbox, students may not know how to apply those skills in stressful moments. Or the demands and expectations have increased?
I appreciate the reflection of when it seems to be most difficult for students to tap into mindfulness to support the stress as it increases in grades 4-8 with the workload. I hope we can continue to reflect on the reasons for this and support students in gaining tools and strategies through our conversations and professional learning.
