The Mindful Makerspace online course from University of San Diego extension was a transformative experience that helped me understand how mindfulness, creativity, and well-being can come together in maker education. I now know what it means to create an inclusive and accessible Makery that promotes self-expression and problem-solving. I gained valuable skills in designing maker curricula that align with my personal goals around teaching empathy, collaboration, resilience, and sustainability. The seven homework assignments were excellent and allowed me to generate practical classroom materials like posters, mantras, and mindful routines that teach the Makery mindset principles in a more measured and deliberate way. Most importantly, I learned how to prioritize self-care and professional growth as an educator, ensuring a balanced and sustainable approach to my teaching in a maker space. I loved the idea of having students give me feedback on new tools I introduce through a Seesaw tool review. This course has truly empowered me to create spaces where creativity and mindfulness thrive and helps me to reach the students in understanding and appreciating the Makery.
