A great day for data

  1. I am a 6th - 8th grade math teacher

  2. This opportunity took place on June 14, 2022

  3. Vanessa, Jess, Joy and I met to identify resources for data investigations for 5th - 8th grade

  4. Goals & Collaborations:

  • What were your big takeaways from your workshop or project? - Data skills should be developed over the course of the year, not in one data unit

  • How does what you learned connect to your goals this year? - Students can develop their data analysis skills, using relevant statistics. Students can represent their thinking in multiple ways.

  • How might this opportunity lead to collaboration with other faculty? - The US math teachers are collaborating with Vanessa to develop ways to visualize data, possibly using Canva

6. Would you recommend this opportunity? Why or why not? Yes! It was very helpful to just have time to explore resources and think about how these new ideas fit into our existing curriculum.

7. Attach/add the URL/Website to the post https://tuvalabs.com/ is an example of a resource we found.

Tuvalab looks interesting for sure and it's great to have the collaborative time to explore some of the many resources out there. I look forward to seeing what the team tries out this year related to making data more visible and am happy to help in any way I can.
