Taking time over two days to organize materials has definitely given me sometime to familiarize myself with the program. Thinking about what is typically covered in first grade and looking at the layout for phonics, we may have to pull form the kindergarten program at the beginning of the year. The program builds upon itself and since K did not use it last year, the first grade program may move too quickly (thinking about short vowels) for first graders. This is shy we did not plan past September. We will see how the first month goes and plan accordingly on based on the need of the students.

I'm glad you were able to work as a team to wrap your heads around the TC Phonics program and get some materials ready for Fall. It's a good idea to pull from Kinder to start the year and ease into it as a way to assess student knowledge. Looking forward to seeing how the first month unfolds as well and let me know if I can be of help.
