Val and I worked together and dove into Unit 1 of the TC Phonics program. It was helpful to get familiar with the curriculum so we can try it out in a few weeks. At first, it was challenging to figure out how we would work it into our existing language arts curriculum. It's tricky as the program has a very different sequence in how they introduce letters and sounds. We also didn't want to lose the great lessons and activities that we've been using in the past. Unit 1 is about making friends with letters and using names in your classroom, school, and in familiar books to learn letters and sounds. We read over the unit and made a google document with the 17 lessons in an easier format to pilot and use.
